Lens options

  • Lucyd Shift (auto-tinting) — clear indoors, darkens to non-polarized sunglass outdoors. Included as standard.
  • Custom lenses — prescription, progressive, photochromic, polarized — add at checkout.

Armor custom lenses cost $25 more than the standard Lucyd Lyte custom lenses due to the high curvature of the frame.

Safety ratings

Ratings differ by variant, and they apply to the frame as supplied with non-prescription (plano) lenses.

VariantANSI Z87.1-2020CSA Z94.3:20
Armor base (LCD008-10)Z87+ high impactClass 1
Armor Slim (LCD008-20)Z87+ high impactClass 1A
Armor Vantage (LCD008-30)Z87 basic impact onlyClass 1A

Two things to be clear about:

  • Vantage is not high impact. It passed basic impact only, so it must not be used where Z87+ is required. Armor base or Armor Slim are the high-impact variants.
  • Prescription lenses are a separate rating. Armor has not yet completed ANSI Z87-2 / Z87-2+ prescription qualification. If a workplace requires an impact-rated prescription safety glass, do not represent Armor as meeting it yet.

For fleet or workplace procurement, route to our B2B Safety site.

Compatibility with other gear

Armor works well with most ear protection and hard hats. See Armor accessories for brand-by-brand compatibility notes.

Common questions

What’s the prescription range?

  • Armor base: SPH -2 to +8
  • Armor Slim: SPH -2 to +6
  • Armor Vantage: full range (lab verifies above -10)

If your Rx is outside the base range, switch to Armor Vantage. We’ll handle the change if it’s flagged during fulfillment — see the Rx mismatch flow (internal).

Does Armor work with the Lucyd magnetic dock?

No — Armor has a different charging connector. Every Armor unit ships with a charging cable and a zipper case for storage.

Is Armor ANSI Z87+ rated?

Armor base and Armor Slim are, in plano. Both passed ANSI Z87.1-2020 high impact, including high mass, high velocity and lateral coverage.

Armor Vantage is not. Vantage passed basic impact only and is marked “Z87”, without the plus.

Prescription-glazed Armor is a separate question: Z87-2 / Z87-2+ qualification is still in progress, so we don’t claim an impact rating on Rx orders yet. See Safety ratings above.

What’s the difference between Armor and Armor Vantage?

Vantage adds the full Rx range, a Keyhole rubberized bridge (instead of adjustable nosepad), and a larger lens for more eye coverage. Comes in M/L only and ships in stock only with photochromic lenses. See full comparison →
